Accessa has been a proud supporter of the Heroes Foundation since the organization launched in 2001. The nonprofit organization’s mission is to provide meaningful support to cancer patients, education to promote cancer prevention and resources to advance research for a cure.

For us, fighting cancer is personal.

In 2000, Accessa Vice President and Principal Vince Todd, Jr. was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The news blindsided 26-year-old Vince and his new wife, Cindy Todd. As he visited doctors and hospitals for treatment, the young couple leaned on friends and family to help.

During his months of chemotherapy, Vince started reading Lance Armstrong’s It’s Not About the Bike, much of which covers his fight with advanced testicular cancer. Vince was inspired. He and Cindy believed that they were facing this battle for a reason. Part of the reason was to make an impact on the cancer community in Indiana.

The Todds received the news that Vince’s cancer was gone on Jan. 11, 2001. With a clean bill of health and a new sense of purpose, they rallied friends and family. Together, they launched the Heroes Foundation, officially taking its name in May 2001 as a registered 501(c)(3) public charity.

Be a hero, join the fight

“I wanted to do something to fight this disease that affected me and so many others,” Vince says. “The competitive spirit and support of those around me fueled this desire and were the spark that ignited the Heroes Foundation.”

Today, Accessa supports the Heroes Foundation through Board of Director leadership and participation, sponsorships, fundraising and more.
